The Argan Museum, a commitment to cultural heritage

Morocco is a country located in the north of Africa, facing the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the north. Thanks to its amalgam of Berber, Arab and European cultural influences, it has managed to modernise over time without neglecting its tradition and cultural heritage. Aspects that, without a doubt, have been able to enhance and promote.
In addition to its distinctive and exceptional cultural mosaic, Morocco is also known for the cultivation of the argan tree, whose scientific name is Argania spinosa. The plant is endemic to the country and only grows in the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve (declared as such in 1998 by UNESCO) in southwest Morocco, which covers an area of 2 568 780 hectares and includes cities such as Essaoira and Agadir. At the heart of the reserve are the Souss-Massa National Park and other ecological points of interest.
In November 2014, UNESCO as a World Heritage Site recognised the argan tree and its techniques, knowledge and practices. Today, this precious product is in danger of extinction due to its high demand.
Agadir, a place to discover all the secrets of the argan tree
Agadir is a Moroccan thermal city located on the country’s Atlantic coast; it is situated on the bay of Agadir, declared one of the most beautiful bays in the world in 2020. It is 600 kilometres south of Rabat and 440 kilometres south of Casablanca.
It is one of the most popular tourist destinations thanks to the number of activities available: cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy the local gastronomy; beaches where you can enjoy water activities such as surfing or windsurfing, and various golf courses where you can enjoy the sport and the scenery.
Another of its great assets is the Souss-Massa National Park: 720 kilometres of land where you can enjoy landscapes of unparalleled beauty.
In this unbeatable location is the tourist resort of Taghazout Bay, a place where you can enjoy a variety of activities in which to take a break: visits and excursions to get to know the environment first hand, a multitude of sporting activities or a visit to the argan museum… All of this, with the best quality of life.
The Argan Museum
Lovers of tradition and authenticity should visit the Argan Museum and Cooperatives, located in the Taghazout Bay resort.
This initiative, promoted by the Argan Cooperative and the SAPST (Société de Gestion et de Promotion de la Station Touristique de Taghazout), is dedicated to the management, development, marketing and administration of the eco-tourist area of Taghazout Bay. At the same time, it is an argan tree valorisation that encourages the improvement of the productivity of the cooperatives in the area..
